Science: The stars on the front of this Visible VerseTM card were photographed by the Hubble telescope, a picture only science-fiction writers could have envisioned before this powerful telescope was carried into orbit in April 1990. This particular star system, known as LH 95, is located some 160,000 light-years from our watching eyes. But we need not look through the Hubble telescope to see thousands of stars. Each star is a sun and there light penetrates the darkest spans of space.
Application: The Apostle Paul encourages Christians to stand firm in the face of difficult cricumstances.The result of this stance is a life that displaces darkness, that lights up homes, neighborhoods, offices, even car rides and prison cells. There is no place on earth where the light of a life lived for Jesus Christ can not shine. Those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior are empowered by the Holy Spirit to stand firm in the face of persecution and rejoice regardless of their circumstances; this is how we shine like stars in the otherwise cold and dark universe. May you be encouraged to live your life in this way with every star lit sky you see!
